How to Prepare for Your First Recording Session at Idea Studios in Honolulu

How to Prepare for Your First Recording Session at Idea Studios in Honolulu

Are you gearing up for your first recording session with us at Idea Studios, one of Honolulu’s premier modern recording studios? Here’s everything you need to know to walk in prepared and walk out with top-tier results.

1. Booking Your Session

First things first·no session, no studio time. We operate by appointment only, so you’ll want to book your session in advance. Simply head to our website, select your session type, and pay for the two-hour minimum upfront. After that, give us a call to lock in a day and time. Walk-ins? Sorry, we don’t do those·we’re all about quality, not chance.

2. Choose Your Session Type

You have two options: do you want to record with one of our professional engineers, or are you more of a DIY artist who wants to handle it solo? Both are possible, but they come at different rates. Knowing what you want before you arrive ensures we’re ready to make your session smooth.

3. Preparation is Everything

You’ll want to walk in ready to work. That means your songs are written, your vocal parts rehearsed, and you know exactly what you want to record. Our Studio A sessions are typically a two hour minimum, and in that time, you can expect to knock out a track per hour if you’re prepared. The more you rehearse, the smoother the session.

4. Bring Your Own Music

We specialize in recording vocals. If you have beats, instrumentals, or backing tracks, make sure you bring them. We’re here to capture your voice, your sound, your vision. Production or extra services are a separate gig.

5. Studio Etiquette: Come Professional

This isn’t a party room. Leave the entourage at home. It’s you and the engineer. Come with a positive attitude, respect the space, and trust our pros. We’ve got the best sound on the island, but we need you at your best too.

6. Trust the Process

Once you’re in, let us do what we do best recording you at the highest quality. You don’t need to second-guess our skills; we’ve got the track record, the gear, and the know how to give you an end product you’ll be proud of.

By following these steps, you’ll get the most out of your session, and we’ll make sure you leave with a track you’ll want the world to hear.
